Turbocor Compressors
Turbocor compressors in chillers represent a cutting-edge technology in refrigeration. These advanced centrifugal compressors utilise magnetic bearings and a variable speed drive (VSD) to compress refrigerant. The refrigerant is drawn into the centre of the impeller and pulled outward by centrifugal force, increasing its pressure without the need for oil lubrication.
Deploying Turbocor compressors provides several key advantages. These compressors are highly energy efficient, especially at partial loads, leading to significant reductions in energy bills. The oil-free operation ensures lower maintenance costs and longer equipment life, while the quiet and smooth operation enhances comfort in various settings. Additionally, Turbocor compressors comply with stringent environmental regulations due to their use of low Global Warming Potential (GWP) refrigerants.
Turbocor compressor chillers are applicable across a number of industries. They are ideal for commercial buildings such as offices, hotels, and data centres, where efficiency and reliability are paramount. They are also well-suited for industrial processes that require precise temperature control, such as in manufacturing, pharmaceuticals, and food processing industries. The technology's versatility and efficiency make it a useful choice for a wide range of applications.
Avoid Refrigerant Leakage
Refrigerant leaks are unnecessary, costly and – entirely avoidable. They are a consequence of poor design and/or maintenance of plant. The Turbomiser™ is designed to minimise or avoid leaks altogether, through reducing the number of components and joints in the system.
Reduced Maintenance
As a result of the oil-free design and limited number of moving parts, the Turbomiser™ requires no oil changes and much reduced servicing to ensure efficiency and reliable running. The technology is highly reliable and proven to save the end user cost and reduce down time.
Cooltherm - Geoclima's ultra-efficient Turbomiser™ chiller is the most efficient chiller of its type on the market today: thanks to the use of Turboco compressors, it is able to reduce energy costs by up to 50% compared with traditional units that use screw or reciprocating compressors. Turbomiser chiller has won several awards, including CIBSE, the most prestigious award for technology with low environmental impact.
In addition to ultra-efficient performance, Turbomiser improves comfort and productivity levels in buildings thanks to its innovative design and continuous monitoring. And, with its frictionless magnetic bearings, service and maintenance costs are significantly reduced. The Turbomiser chiller is based on a combination of technologies designed to reduce energy consumption, minimise or avoid leaks, reduce refrigerant charge and ensure reliable operation and deliver quiet running.
Cooltherm don't just sell Turbomiser™, we are Turbomiser™!

Clint Climatizzazione Integrate Turbocor Range
Clint's innovative TURBOLINE series are designed to provide high efficiency and performance for selective system needs. Utilising R134a and HFO-R1234ze refrigerants, these units incorporate turbocor dynamic partial-load oil-free magnetic levitation compressors managed by the TURBOSOFT self-adaptive electronic control system. This combination ensures high energy efficiency, especially at partial loads, and delivers unparalleled SEER and SEPR values.
TURBOLINE units stand out for their low inrush currents, silent operation, and reduced weight, making them ideal for industrial applications requiring continuous chilled water production. The use of flooded shell and tube evaporators and innovative heat exchangers further enhances efficiency and performance.
Compared to traditional compressors, TURBOLINE units offer significantly lower operational costs, with savings that can exceed 50% over their operating life. Additionally, these units are equipped with a web monitoring system, allowing for remote management and monitoring via GPRS/EDGE/3G/TCP-IP communication protocols.
Clint's TURBOLINE range also includes options with free-cooling technology, providing energy savings during cooler months by using outdoor air. The microprocessor controller optimises operation based on external temperatures.
Exceptional noise reduction
Noise is a growing issue, particularly with the introduction of air conditioning to buildings in built-up and residential areas. Turbocor compressors address this through exceptionally quiet operation, down to 67dbA at five metres. Due to their design, these compressors are also virtually vibration free – there is no need for anti-vibration mountings or special supports.
Low start-up current
Conventional chillers may require up to 600 Amps starting current, putting a huge draw on a building’s electricity supply – and sometimes requiring an expensive upgrade of the sub-station. Because the Turbomiser™ chiller is based on inverter-controlled Turbocor compressors, it requires just 2 Amps to start, saving cost and maintaining headroom for other essential services.
