Cooltherm’s wide range of heat pumps span air-source, water-source and CO2 high temperature solutions, and range from a few kilowatts to over a megawatt.

  • Cooltherm’s range of heat pumps operate on various refrigerants including the natural refrigerants R290 (Propane) and R744 (CO2), the ultra-low GWP R1234ze and traditional refrigerants such as R134a and R410a.
  • The effective and economic application of heat pumps needs to be linked to both the production of heat (usually hot water) and how that heat is delivered into the space, Cooltherm also offers air handing and terminal units that are optimised for the delivery of heating at the lower water temperatures which are delivered by heat pumps operating at high electrical efficiency.
  • Water source CO2 Heat pumps can provide water temperatures of up to 110°C and are ideal for use in the production of direct hot water where the demand can often be offset against the building base cooling load even in winter. When heat pumps are applied together with the buildings cooling systems system COPs can reach 8:1
  • Cooltherm also has a range of four-pipe heat pumps which deliver simultaneous hot and cold water provision to building or industrial process.

There are different types of Cooltherm heat pump. However, as a base principal, a Cooltherm heat pump extracts heat energy from the air, ground or a waste heat process, and uses it to create heat that can be transferred to a process or building.

A well-designed Cooltherm heat pump system transfers up to four times more energy into a building as heat then it uses in electricity to extract it. As a result, heat pumps are incredibly efficient and have the potential to significantly lower fuel usage and reduce greenhouse emissions.
